Totally agree about the benefits of having games out on display – they can they can be a great conversation starter for visitors (when we’re allowed into each other’s homes again!) for both gamers and non-gamers alike.
My games used to be hidden away in cupboards as my partner didn’t like ‘clutter’. But now many of them are on display in my games room/office where seeing different games often helps inspire me in my games design. Though I should probably have more of them dotted around the house in strategic locations for some of the reasons you mention.
I think I have a few too many places for games to be on show at the moment. I’ve outgrown my dedicated shelving (again), so piles are growing on side tables and in corners of rooms. My partner says that games are taking over the house!
